    Conserving Architectural Models
The process of conserving architectural models is carried out by our team of museum conservation and restoration model makers. They have many sympathetic conservation & preservation model techniques that are not available anywhere else in Europe.
These tested conservation & restoration model techniques are especially important when the architectural model is constructed of short term materials and forms part of an historical collection.
At the same time as conserving architectural models we adopt various intensities of conservation to preserve the model from further degradation. Whilst we are of course always mind full, that sometimes clients like to maintain the patina that builds up with time.
Architectural models become more fragile with age, materials become brittle & adhesives dry out. Therefore it is crucial to keep vibration and shock impact to a absolute minimum. So where possible all work is carried out on site under controlled conditions. This approach has cost benefits as it saves on the transportation, impact on the environment and reduces display downtime.
Once the conservation works are completed it is important to keep architectural models in environments that are consistent. Any sudden changes in temperature or humidity can shorten longevity and cause models to tear themselves apart. Levels for both we would advise on, determined by the models construction and materials.

We would always recommend storing the models with an acrylic or glass cover which has an air tight seal. For those models that can not have a physical cover then conservation grade tissue paper will prevent the build-up of dust and dirt. However great care must be taken if small or delicate items are covered as this can have a negative effect on breakages.
For those delicate architectural models that need to travel to exhibitions we provide our unique tailor made museum grade anti-vibration packing cases which dramatically reduces the chance of breakages whilst in transit.
